Time is limited! How do you want to spend it? Doing your “karma” or complaining..

Most of us spent first 25 years studying out of this and expect to work till age of 60. With just 35 years of active work life, which means 12,775 days only. Assuming we sleep on an average 7-8 hours which gives us 16-17 hours in a day, of which I spend 9-10 hours working. If I break it down further it means I have approx. 120,000 hours to build my career in this lifetime.. That’s way to less than what I had imagined and wanted..

As per average life expectancy, we expect to live 70- 80 years if we eat healthy, exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle & survive any freak accidents & all global catastrophes during that period ;-))

With such little time in hand and so much still to achieve, only solution to this time equation is by looking forward and focusing our time and energy on productive things and staying as far away as possible from toxic people and not worrying about what they are “doing” or “saying”.

Best part of our day and prime years of our life goes into work. We can spend it appreciating it or complaining about everything that’s wrong around us. Complaining about people, system, culture, opportunities, work life balance and 100 other things. Hence wasting your precious time on thinking why, how and who and eventually getting stuck in that vicious circle of negativity.

Alternatively, we can choose to filter out all the noise, all the negativity, all the toxic people around and stay focused and determined towards your work goals, be forward looking, growth oriented, innovative and let the results speak for itself. We can spend our limited time doing our “karma” with a smile on our face and a feeling of self satisfaction, fulfillment and achievement.

As a working mother, this came naturally to me as working moms are always treading on a very thin line maintaining that fine balance between work and family time and the opportunity cost of wasting time is very high. So I try and maximize the utility of my time by spending every minute as effectively as possible wherever I am- At work or with my kids. Time wasted on negativity is “time lost” which I could have spent reading a book with my children or solving a real problem at work.

Our work defines us, gives our life a purpose and gives our families comfort and wealth so that we all can spend remaining time with ease. So maximize it! Respect it! Spend it Wisely!
