The women who were awarded especially worked for women empowerment and child development and the event, organized by BERG, was an immediate success. It was an encouragement to the women to enable them to keep doing what they did and there were a number of them were breaking new grounds in the start up space. One of them was Vandana Sharma, who was with the Indian Armed Forces for a decade and had then ventured in the corporate world, breaking stereotypes around ‘Women in Uniform’. Another notable achiever was Revathi Siddharthe Roy, who had a Masters in Economics but drove a cab in Mumbai for ten months to support her family when her husband passed away. Other winners were Kanika Shori of Square Global, Saloni Mardia Kothari of Mtlex Online and Swati Nathani of Team Pumpkin amongst others.
