Square Yards Interior Company Redefines the Home Interior Industry

Kanika Gupta Shori feels that the affordable interior design segment will have a vital role to play in fuelling the growth of the interior design industry to $38.2 billion in 2027 from $23.2 billion in 2020. More renters in Tier-1 and 2 cities will become homeowners, therefore requiring affordable yet aspirational solutions.

Abhinav and Ridhima Sharma were looking for personalized interior solutions for adding a special touch to their new apartment just outside the National Capital from Square Yards. They ultimately chose Square Yards home design vertical Interior Company and were left happy with the wonderful experience, affordable prices and excellent process.

There are many such budget homeowners in this industry who have a quest to upgrade their lifestyles while the home design industry majorly caters to mid-income and luxury homeowners. Hence, this is the sweet spot for the Interior Company which is mainly focusing on homes priced between Rs. 50 lakh and Rs. 1 crore, endeavoring to make interior design more affordable for budget homeowners while ensuring zero compromises on quality simultaneously.

The idea was the brainchild of Kanika Gupta Shori, Founder and COO, Square Yards, who always wanted to do something in home interiors and design, ever since she set up the company with her husband in 2014. Square Yards has globally expanded to 9 countries and 20 cities ever since in only 7 years, while becoming the country’s first fully-integrated real estate platform. And then Interior Company filled up the missing gap on the platform, launched by Kanika Gupta Shori in April, 2021.

Interior Company offers thousands of quality designs, customized products and affordable prices for homeowners. It garnered hugely positive responses from owners within only two months of the beta launch and from April to December last year, it completed the delivery of more than 200 projects in Pune, Mumbai, Noida, Gurgaon and Dubai. By year-end, it is planning launches of its services in Chennai and Hyderabad as well.

The Interior Company has built up a stellar list of designers, stringently chosen vendors and a top-notch in-house technology team that makes use of data science, AI and industrial design for scaling up the interior design process. Top interior designers use AR and VR as standard offerings while offering consultation services to clients. Interior Company also has tie-ups with local vendors and its own factories at Bangalore, Manesar and Mumbai. It also has tie-ups with leading private brands such as Faber, Urban Ladder, Hettich, Glen, Kaff Elica, Marshall and Orange Tree among others.

Kanika Gupta Shori also considers herself lucky to have found an efficient and reliable team behind the brand, 60% of whom are women, with 90% of the leadership also being women. Most top designers on the company leaderboards are also women who are more trusted by clients. Interior Company is now focusing on expanding to other Tier-1 and 2 cities while coming up with experience centres in Noida, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore. Going forward, they will have these centres in every Tier-1 city. More than 25 million housing units are needed to be constructed by 2030 in India and the market is sizable for home furnishings as a result. The Interior Company hopes to become the predominant design and home furnishings solution for customers while achieving a multi-million dollar run rate.
